Lisbon's legendary Aqueduct, 20 minutes from the hotel by bus on Line 758

Classed as a national monument , the 58 kilometre-long aqueduct is one of the world's most remarkable feats of hydraulic engineering and one of the longest and most complex water supply systems. The construction of the aqueduct began in 1731, under the rule of King John V, and was completed in 1748. It provided the city with drinking water until 1967, when it was removed from the supply system.
